Our Mission is to engage the Lancaster County community in protecting our children against sexual exploitation and abuse and to empower all people to speak out against offenders.
In 2018, the Lancaster County Children and Youth Agency investigated 1,942 cases of suspected abuse. This included: 441 sexual abuse reports and 72 Per Se Acts
Suspected Abuse
Suspected Abuse is defined as the knowledge of a child abuse occurrence that guides an individual to make a report. This does not mean the reporter is certain abuse has occurred, but has a reason to suspect it exists. All residents are encouraged to report suspected abuse, while mandated reporters are required by law to do so. For more information on this topic click here.
Per Se Acts
Defined as acts that are harmful to a child even if no physical injury results, which can include leaving a child unsupervised with an individual, other than the child’s parent, who the adult knows or reasonably should have known was required to register as a sex offender.
